Illegal climber has accident and injury in Mount Rinjani National Park

Today, Friday, October 4, 2024, there was a climbing accident involving an illegal climber from Russia. The accident occurred around Post 2 of the Sembalun Climbing Route. The climber fell on a steep slope because he was suspected of using a backdoor to avoid being checked by officers.

The evacuation involved several elements from Mount Rinjani National Park, the medical team and the police for more than 5 hours. From the initial observation results, the climber suffered a broken bone and bleeding in the head, the victim was immediately taken to the Sembalun Health Center for further assistance.

Previously on September 29, 2024, an accident involving visitors was also reported around the route to the peak of Rinjani, the search and evacuation process is still being carried out by the joint SAR team.
