Before trekking begins, all hikers are required to complete final registration and scan the QR code of their Trekking Pass at the Mount Rinjani National Park Registration Office in Sembalun Lawang (1,156 meters above sea level). Please ensure your trekking pass is ready; our staff can assist you, or you may download it from your dashboard. Passport verification is also required.

Note: If you are staying in Sembalun Village, please have breakfast at your hotel. Pickup will be arranged at 08:30 AM, with direct transfer to the National Park Registration Office.

The trek from Sembalun begins with a gentle ascent through local villages, farmland, and wide open savanna grasslands traditionally used for cattle grazing. Along the way, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Sembalun hills and the majestic Mount Rinjani landscape.

ATTENTION: As the trail passes through open grassland, temperatures can rise quickly due to sun exposure. We strongly recommend using sunblock, wearing a hat, and choosing short pants for greater comfort during the walk.

After approximately two hours of trekking from the Sembalun Gate, you will arrive at Post I (Pemantauan Rest Area – 1,300 meters). Less than one additional hour of walking brings you to Post II (Tengengean Lunch Point – 1,800 meters), where lunch is served while enjoying scenic mountain views.

Post III (Padabalong Rest Area – 1,800 meters) is reached after approximately 1.5 hours from Post II. From there, the trail becomes steeper, requiring an additional 3 to 3.5 hours of trekking through dense cemara forest (Casuarina pine trees) before reaching Pelawangan Sembalun, the crater rim campsite at 2,639 meters above sea level. Arrival is expected before sunset, allowing you to relax with coffee or tea while our crew prepares dinner. After dinner, enjoy a well-deserved rest to recharge for the early morning summit attack starting around 2:00 AM the next day.

Day 2 Summit attack, visiting segara anak lake, hot spring water and Crater Rim Senaru

Crater Rim Sembalun - Summit - Segara Anak lake - Hot Spring Water - Crater Rim Senaru

The day begins early at around 2:00 AM as you prepare for the summit push to the top of Mount Rinjani (3,726 meters above sea level). The climb to the summit takes approximately 3–3.5 hours, following a challenging sandy and steep trail along the upper slopes of the mountain. Night temperatures can drop to as low as 4°C, so proper trekking gear such as a warm jacket, long pants, and a headlamp is essential. Reaching the summit rewards you with a deep sense of achievement and breathtaking sunrise views stretching across the Wallace Line, with panoramic sights of Bali Island, Mount Agung, and Sumbawa. After spending about an hour taking photos and enjoying the scenery, you will descend along the ridgeline, passing fields of edelweiss flowers (Bunga Abadi), before returning to camp for a well-deserved breakfast.

After breakfast, the journey continues with a descent toward the stunning Segara Anak Lake, which takes around 2–2.5 hours. Along the way, you will enjoy sweeping views of the valley below and Mount Sangkareang rising on the western side of Mount Rinjani National Park. Upon arrival at the lake, the porter team will prepare lunch while your guide leads you to the nearby natural hot springs. A soak in the warm mineral water is believed to help relax muscles and restore energy after the summit climb. Lunch is served by the lakeside between 12:00 and 13:00, with spectacular views of the active Mount Baru volcano standing in the middle of Segara Anak Lake.

At around 14:00, after lunch, the trek resumes with an ascent toward Crater Rim Senaru. This section of the hike takes approximately 3–4 hours, following a rocky trail that winds upward along the crater walls. While the route involves steady climbing, it does not require technical climbing skills or special equipment. As you ascend, you will be treated to changing perspectives of Segara Anak Lake from different angles.

Arrival at the Crater Rim Senaru campsite is expected by late afternoon, around 5:00 PM or before sunset. From this dramatic viewpoint, enjoy the sunset with a cup of coffee or tea while the crew prepares dinner. On clear days, the campsite offers expansive views over Segara Anak Lake, the summit of Mount Rinjani, Bali Island, the Gili Islands, and northern Lombok. Although the elevation is similar to the summit, the scenery here presents a completely different landscape and perspective.

The downhill trail includes several scheduled rest points to maintain a steady and enjoyable pace. In normal weather conditions, lunch is served at Post 1 Extra along the route. After around six hours of trekking down from the Crater Rim Senaru, the adventure comes to an end at the Rinjani Trekking Center Office in Senaru, where transportation is ready to take you onward to your next destination in Lombok.
