The day begins early at around 2:00 AM as you prepare for the summit push to the top of Mount Rinjani (3,726 meters above sea level). The climb to the summit takes approximately 3–3.5 hours, following a challenging sandy and steep trail along the upper slopes of the mountain. Night temperatures can drop to as low as 4°C, so proper trekking gear such as a warm jacket, long pants, and a headlamp is essential. Reaching the summit rewards you with a deep sense of achievement and breathtaking sunrise views stretching across the Wallace Line, with panoramic sights of Bali Island, Mount Agung, and Sumbawa. After spending about an hour taking photos and enjoying the scenery, you will descend along the ridgeline, passing fields of edelweiss flowers (Bunga Abadi), before returning to camp for a well-deserved breakfast.
After breakfast, the journey continues with a descent toward the stunning Segara Anak Lake, which takes around 2–2.5 hours. Along the way, you will enjoy sweeping views of the valley below and Mount Sangkareang rising on the western side of Mount Rinjani National Park. Upon arrival at the lake, the porter team will prepare lunch while your guide leads you to the nearby natural hot springs. A soak in the warm mineral water is believed to help relax muscles and restore energy after the summit climb. Lunch is served by the lakeside between 12:00 and 13:00, with spectacular views of the active Mount Baru volcano standing in the middle of Segara Anak Lake.
At around 14:00, after lunch, the trek resumes with an ascent toward Crater Rim Senaru. This section of the hike takes approximately 3–4 hours, following a rocky trail that winds upward along the crater walls. While the route involves steady climbing, it does not require technical climbing skills or special equipment. As you ascend, you will be treated to changing perspectives of Segara Anak Lake from different angles.
Arrival at the Crater Rim Senaru campsite is expected by late afternoon, around 5:00 PM or before sunset. From this dramatic viewpoint, enjoy the sunset with a cup of coffee or tea while the crew prepares dinner. On clear days, the campsite offers expansive views over Segara Anak Lake, the summit of Mount Rinjani, Bali Island, the Gili Islands, and northern Lombok. Although the elevation is similar to the summit, the scenery here presents a completely different landscape and perspective.
