Itinerary

Day 1 Pick up at your arrival point

Airport/harbor/your hotel - Senaru Village

Our driver will pick you up from Lombok International Airport or any other area in Lombok and transfer you directly to Senaru Village, the main gateway for Mount Rinjani trekking via the Senaru route. The journey from the airport to Senaru Village takes approximately 3 hours. If time permits, you may enjoy a Senaru waterfall tour after checking in at your guesthouse.

One of Senaru’s most famous natural attractions is Sendang Gila Waterfall, which welcomes thousands of domestic and international visitors each year. Located at around 600 meters above sea level, this waterfall can be reached by an easy 20-minute walk from the entrance gate. For more adventurous travelers, the second waterfall, Tiu Kelep, is located about one hour further upstream from Sendang Gila. The trek involves scrambling over rocks through lush tropical forest and is rewarded with a spectacular waterfall and a refreshing swim in its deep natural pool. According to local belief, swimming behind the main cascade of Tiu Kelep will make you feel one year younger.

Note: The Senaru waterfall tour is not included in the trekking package and can be done independently. However, hiring a local guide is highly recommended for safety and better experience. The entrance fee is IDR 20,000 per person, while a local guide typically costs between IDR 200,000 and IDR 300,000.

At 7:00 PM, you will meet your trekking guide for a detailed Mount Rinjani trekking briefing. If your arrival in Senaru is late, the briefing can be conducted the following morning after breakfast.

Day 2 Start trekking from Sembalun village

Senaru Village - Sembalun Village - Crater Rim Sembalun Campsite

Savanna of Sembalun Route Mount Rinjani National Park

Your Mount Rinjani trekking adventure via the Sembalun route begins with an early morning pick-up from your guesthouse between 07:00–07:15 AM, after breakfast (served from 06:00 AM). You will then be transferred to Sembalun Village, the main starting point for trekking in Mount Rinjani National Park. Before starting the hike, all trekkers must complete final registration and scan the Trekking Pass QR code at the Rinjani National Park Registration Office in Sembalun Lawang (1,156 m). Please ensure your trekking pass is ready, either downloaded from your dashboard or assisted by our staff, and prepare your passport for verification.

The Sembalun trekking route starts with a gentle ascent through local villages, farmland, and wide open savanna grasslands traditionally used for cattle grazing. This section offers breathtaking views of the Sembalun hills and the majestic Mount Rinjani, making it one of the most scenic approaches on the mountain.

ATTENTION: As the trail crosses open savanna, temperatures can rise quickly due to direct sunlight. We strongly recommend using sunblock, wearing a hat, and choosing shorts instead of long pants for a more comfortable hike.

Pos 4 Sembalun Route Mount Rinjani National Park

After approximately 2 hours of trekking from the entrance gate, you will reach Post I (Pemantauan Rest Area – 1,300 masl). Continuing for less than one additional hour, the trail leads to Post II (Tengengean – 1,800 masl), the designated lunch point where you can relax and enjoy panoramic mountain views.

The trail then becomes steeper as you enter the cemara forest (pine and Casuarina species), followed by a 3–3.5 hour ascent to Pelawangan Sembalun, also known as the Crater Rim Sembalun campsite (2,639 masl). Arrival is expected before sunset, allowing time to enjoy stunning crater views while sipping coffee or tea as our crew prepares dinner. After dinner, you can rest well and recharge your energy for the early morning summit attempt, which begins around 2:00 AM the following day.

Day 3 Summit attack, visiting segara anak lake, hot spring water and Crater Rim Senaru

Crater Rim Sembalun - Summit - Segara Anak lake - Hot Spring Water - Crater Rim Senaru

You must be ready at 02:00 AM for the Mount Rinjani summit attack. The climb to the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726 meters above sea level) takes approximately 3–3.5 hours, passing through a steep and sandy trail along the upper slopes of the mountain. Temperatures can drop as low as 4°C, so proper trekking gear is essential, including a warm jacket, long pants, gloves, and a headlamp. Upon reaching the summit, you will be rewarded with an incredible sense of achievement and breathtaking sunrise views stretching across the Wallace Line toward Bali Island, Mount Agung, and Sumbawa Island. Spend around one hour at the summit for photography before descending back to the campsite via the ridgeline, passing through beautiful edelweiss flowers (Bunga Abadi), followed by a well-deserved breakfast at camp.

After breakfast, the trek continues with a descent to Segara Anak Lake, which takes approximately 2–2.5 hours. Along the way, you will enjoy panoramic views of the valley and the majestic Mount Sangkareang on the western side of Mount Rinjani National Park. Upon arrival at the lake, the porter team will prepare lunch while the guide leads you to the nearby natural hot springs. Swimming and soaking in the hot spring water is believed to have healing properties and offers natural relaxation to restore energy and mood. Lunch is served lakeside between 12:00 and 13:00, with stunning views of the active volcano Mount Baru rising from the center of Segara Anak Lake.

At 14:00, after lunch, the journey continues with an ascent to Crater Rim Senaru. The trek to Crater Rim Senaru takes approximately 3–4 hours, traversing rocky cliffs and scenic trails. This section does not require technical climbing skills or special equipment. Throughout the ascent, you will enjoy changing perspectives of Segara Anak Lake from different angles.

You are expected to arrive at the Crater Rim Senaru campsite by 17:00 or before sunset. Enjoy a peaceful sunset with a cup of coffee or tea while the trekking crew prepares dinner. On clear days, this campsite offers spectacular panoramic views of Segara Anak Lake, the Mount Rinjani summit, Bali Island, the Gili Islands, and northern Lombok. While similar in scale to the summit views, the scenery here is seen from the opposite direction, offering a completely different and equally stunning landscape.
