Mount Rinjani National Park closure 2025 longer than usual. When will Rinjani open?

This year, Mount Rinjani has been open since April 1st, 2024 and has been visited by thousands of people from various countries. Generally, Rinjani is closed every rainy season (January 1st to March 31st) and opens normally starting April 1st. In addition to weather reasons, ecosystem recovery is also an important reason for this closure.

Today, Friday, December 20th, 2024. The Mount Rinjani National Park Office announced a longer than usual Rinjani closure period. In accordance with letter number PG.1688/BTNGR/TU/KSA/XII/2024 signed directly by the Head of the Mount Rinjani National Park Office, Climbing to Mount Rinjani National Park will be closed from January 1st, 2025 to April 2nd, 2025. Therefore, climbers can enter (Check in) last on December 31st, 2024 and must have checked out on January 3rd, 2025. After the rainy season, climbers can re-enter Mount Rinjani National Park starting April 3rd, 2025.

Climbers are expected to avoid illegal climbing. In addition to being dangerous due to bad weather, illegal climbers also have the potential to face criminal problems.
