Mount Rinjani National Park Fully Reopens with New SOPs Effective August 11, 2025

As per the previous official announcement, Mount Rinjani National Park is fully open starting today, August 11, 2025. The reopening follows a comprehensive evaluation process and the ratification of new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at enhancing visitor safety, improving trekking management, and supporting sustainable tourism.

New Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

The updated SOPs were formally ratified on August 8, 2025, and are now mandatory for all trekking activities within Mount Rinjani National Park. These regulations apply to individual hikers, guided groups, trekking operators, and porters.

  • Guide-to-Guest Ratio: One (1) licensed guide is allowed to handle a maximum of five (5) guests per group.
  • Porter Allocation: One (1) porter may assist a maximum of two (2) guests, with a maximum load limit of 25 kilograms per porter.
  • Emergency Communication Device: Each trekking group is required to carry at least one emergency communication device at all times.
  • Safety Equipment: First aid kits and webbing straps are mandatory and must be carried by every trekking group.

Purpose of the New SOPs

The implementation of these new SOPs is intended to reduce risks on the trail, improve emergency response capabilities, and ensure a safer trekking experience for all visitors. The regulations also support better crowd management and reinforce Mount Rinjani National Park’s commitment to responsible and sustainable mountain tourism.

Visitor Advisory

All hikers, trekking operators, and tour organizers are required to comply strictly with the new SOPs. Failure to meet these requirements may result in denied access or further administrative action by park authorities. Visitors are encouraged to prepare thoroughly and coordinate with licensed guides before starting their trek.

Mount Rinjani National Park authorities will continue to monitor trail conditions and SOP implementation to ensure safety, environmental protection, and a high-quality trekking experience for everyone.
