Preparing Your Rinjani Adventure…
Published Date:
Today, March 5, 2026, at the office of the Mount Rinjani National Park Authority (Balai TNGR) in Mataram, the Head of Balai TNGR announced that trekking to Mount Rinjani National Park will officially open starting April 1, 2026. Ticket reservations via the eRinjani application will begin tomorrow, March 6, 2026.
For the 2026 trekking season, a new regulation applies to all trekkers without exception: mandatory insurance coverage for emergency evacuation by helicopter. When booking tickets, both trekkers and tour organizers must include the trekker's insurance details, including the insurance company name and policy number. For those who do not yet have this insurance, it can be purchased directly through the eRinjani application at a cost of Rp. 290,000 per person.
The Mount Rinjani National Park Authority emphasizes that while this premium insurance is mandatory for all trekkers, purchasing it through the eRinjani app is not required. Trekkers can use insurance from their home country as long as the policy covers helicopter evacuation in emergency situations. Why is this insurance important? Mount Rinjani is one of the most popular trekking destinations in Indonesia, but it also features high-altitude terrain where emergency access can be challenging. Helicopter evacuation coverage ensures that trekkers are financially protected and can receive emergency rescue quickly if a serious incident occurs on the mountain.
The premium insurance available for purchase through the eRinjani application is provided by Balai TNGR's partner, PT. Asuransi Jiwa Syariah Kitabisa. The coverage provided by this insurance policy includes:
