Preparing Your Rinjani Adventure…
Published Date:
The Mount Rinjani National Park Authority has officially announced a temporary suspension of new hiking ticket sales following safety concerns on one of the park’s main trekking routes.
This decision was issued on July 17, 2025, after two consecutive hiking accidents occurred on the trail connecting the Sembalun Crater Rim (Pelawangan Sembalun) to Segara Anak Lake.
As part of the safety response, the route from Crater Rim Sembalun to Segara Anak Lake has been temporarily closed to all hikers. The closure allows the national park authority to carry out trail maintenance and safety improvements.
Maintenance activities include stabilizing trail sections, improving safety features, and ensuring that the route meets required safety standards before reopening.
The suspension of ticket sales and trail access is intended to prioritize visitor safety while providing park management sufficient time to evaluate trail conditions and complete necessary maintenance work.
All visitors, trekking operators, and tour organizers are advised to comply with the temporary restrictions and avoid the closed route until further notice.
Visitors who already hold valid hiking tickets may proceed with their trek as scheduled; however, access to the closed trails remains strictly prohibited.
New hiking tickets will remain unavailable while the maintenance work is ongoing. Any updates regarding access changes or reopening schedules will be announced officially by Mount Rinjani National Park authorities.
