The Mount Rinjani National Park Office has just announced the closure of Mount Rinjani Peak. This closure is necessary to maintain the safety of visitors, the safety of the evacuation team and maintain the conduciveness in the evacuation area on Mount Rinjani which has been carried out since Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Through letter number PG.1/T.39/TU/KSA.04.01/B/06/2015 dated June 24, 2025, the National Park stated that the Sembalun route climb can only be done up to Pelawangan 4. Thus, climbers can still enjoy the scenery in the Pelawangan, lake and Senaru Pelawangan. All entrances to the climb are still open normally.
Previously, on Saturday, June 21, 2025 in the morning, it was reported that an accident had occurred at the climbing location to the peak of Mount Rinjani, around Cemara Nunggal. The victim, a Brazilian climber with the initials J, fell off a cliff towards Lake Segara Anak. The evacuation process was very difficult because of the steep area of loose rocks and extreme weather. Until this news was released, the victim had not been successfully evacuated.
