Since the Covid 19 pandemic hit the world in 2020, almost all sectors have an impact, including the world of tourism, closing and limiting activities is a logical choice to take. Mount Rinjani National Park itself at the beginning of the pandemic closed all climbing activities.
The reopening is done gradually and continues to follow the protocol. Starting in August 2020, the Mount Rinjani National Park Office opened a 25% climbing quota, then at the end of 2020 until the end of 2021 it opened a 50% climbing quota. The COVID-19 pandemic situation that continues to improve has made the addition of the climbing quota to 75% possible in early May.
Today, according to the announcement number PG.30/T.39/TU/KSA/7/2022 dated July 21, 2022, the reactivation of climbing with a 100% quota can be carried out starting July 27, 2022.
This is good news for tourists and trekking organizers, considering that so far the available quota is not sufficient, especially on weekends or holidays. To note, the climbing quota from Sembalun and Senaru villages is 150 people per day each.
