Rinjani Trekking Center closed earlier this year, what's going on?

News Update | Putu Puspa Negara | Thursday, December 26th, 2024

Mount Rinjani National Park Office has informed that the Climbing to Mount Rinjani will be closed from January 1st to April 2nd, 2025. This closure is based on the estimated peak of the rainy season in the Mount Rinjani National Park area and also because of the recovery period for the National Park after 9 months of being opened for climbing.

Considering the weather conditions lately, and for the safety of guests and the comfort of climbing, Rinjani Trekking Center has decided to close and stop the Climbing operation earlier this year. Rinjani Trekking Center should continue to serve climbers until December 31st, 2024, deciding that the last climb served will be December 27, 2024 (4 days earlier).

Rain and strong wind conditions have an impact on guest comfort and safety. We have observed the climbing conditions for the past week. Some of our guests had to return early because of these conditions. There were no serious conditions that occurred, but guests are unhappy with this situation, said Kusnadi (Senaru Office Coordinator - Rinjani Trekking Center).

All climbing packages to Mount Rinjani have been set to be unavailable starting December 28, 2024. See you on the climb in April 2025.
