Mount Rinjani is a tropical mountain environment, Trekking at this mountain can be challenging but surely rewarding experience. The physical is demanding by the heat, humidity and the exposure to the sun, so it is important to be prepared and dressed appropriately. Here is some clothing that you should consider to bring with you on the trek.
- Comfortable T-Shirt: Shirt made from moister wicking and breathable material such as polyester or nylon is recommended to help keep you cool and dry. At the first hours of the trek is mostly hot and less shadow through the open grass field. Avoid to use shirt with cotton material which is tends to trap sweat and become heavy and uncomfortable.
- Shorts & Pants: Quick dry is the key. Quick dray material will help you to stay cool and comfortable on the trail. Lightweight, stretchy and have plenty of pockets will make your trek easier.
- Hat: It will protect your face, neck, and shoulders from the sun and help keep you cool, there for wide brimmed sun hat is recommended. Please choose sun hat that has a chin strap to keep is in place on windy days.
- Sunglasses: It will protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays. Choose UV Resistant and fit comfortably.
- Rain coat: Same as the most tropical mountain, you may encounter unexpected rain while trekking to mount Rinjani even on summer. Better to have one than walking on wet.
- Wind stoper & warm Jacket: Once you get to the campsite, you definitely need warm and windproof jacket. Night temperature can be as low as 4 CC and will freezing when it’s come with wind.
- Wind stoper long pant: You will need it in the night at the camp site and upon summit attack. Most of the itinerary will do the summit attack starting at 2 am from campsite to get at the Summit before Sunrise. You will facing cold and windy situation.
- Trekking Shoes & Socks: Pick a pair of shoes and socks that designed for trekking is recommended. However comfortable and has good grip is the must as you will walking about 8-9 km per day.
- Glove: Rinjani mountain is not a snow mountain, most of the trekker said it just the optional. However, glove will keep you warm on summit attack
- Trekking poles: on summit attack and descent part of the trail, trekking poles will give your extra support and stability. Adjustable and have good grip is recommended
- Swimming suit: If you itinerary will visiting Segara Anak Lake, please don’t forget to soak your body at Hot Spring water near the lake site. Recharge your energy by relaxing at this natural pool
